An Adventure in Faith
September 13th - November 1st, 2008

In its sixth year at Unity on the Bay, An Adventure in Faith is our wildly successfully seven-week transformational journey based on a best-selling book. Gleaning insights from the pages of modern mystics like Marianne Williamson, don Miguel Ruiz, Wayne Dyer and Eckhart Tolle, we gather each fall to build and unite our vibrant and diverse community. One of the largest spiritual book clubs in the country, An Adventure in Faith attracted over a thousand people last year as small groups formed in homes across South Florida and beyond. Over 120 study groups and sacred circles came together to read a book but found so much more as deep bonds of friendship, connection and love developed and flourished.

This year’s AIF book is “Peace is the Way” by Deepak Chopra. In this powerful call to action, Chopra encourages us to see beyond the “so-called reality” of war, violence and confusion and look within ourselves for the answers that will create a peaceful world that works for all. In addition to small groups which meet once a week, we invite you to participate in our Sunday celebration services to deepen your AIF experience; beginning September 14, talks from our ministers will be based on thought-provoking and inspirational themes selected from “Peace Is the Way.”

We are over 55 groups all over South Florida, Santo Domingo, and Venezuela joined together celebrating peace.

The term potluck refers to a community meal, composed entirely of food contributions. Modern potlucks celebrate community and are meant to bring the guests closer by sharing each other's food. Get together with your AIF group and share cooking or preparing and naming the dish you will be sharing.


What to bring:

Our potluck will be based on the PEACE=PAZ theme. We suggest vegetarian, or chicken main courses, rice dishes, bean dishes, green salads, pasta salads, fruit dishes, and dessert items that names begin with the letter P, E, A, C, or E .

for example:
P= Pasta salad, Pan-Grilled Tomato and Feta Salad with Lemon-Caper Dressing
E= Endive Salad, Empanadas
A= Angel Food Cake Stuffed with Whipped Cream and Berries or Arroz con Pollo, Artichoke-and-Spinach salad
C= Crispy Oven-Fried Chicken, Citrus-Shrimp Salad, Chinese Chicken salad, or Caramel Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
E= Egg salad, Energy fruit salad

Be creative!- you can also rename your dishes with a theme from Peace is the way.

Hints for a successful potluck dinner-
You want to serve something that you're proud of. It should represent food that you enjoy and want to share with others. The idea behind a potluck is community. It's an excellent opportunity to sample dishes from other cultures and get a taste of unique cooking styles. Your portion size should reflect the number of guests at the party, so that everyone has an opportunity to try your dish.
